Zomin qozon patir was officially patented

The Ministry of Justice has officially registered “Zomin qozon patir” (Zomin pot bread) as a geographical indication, according to a statement from the ministry’s press service.
It is now listed as the 20th entry in Uzbekistan’s State Register of Geographical Indications. The name, quality, and place of origin of Zomin qozon patir are granted legal protection.
“This measure aims to promote the regional brand, support local producers, and provide consumers with a high-quality, authentic product,” the statement noted.
Zomin qozon patir is a traditional bread product from the Zomin district of Jizzakh region. Prepared with specially kneaded dough, local milk, and butter, it is baked in a pot and is known for its distinctive taste and quality.
A geographical indication is a designation that legally protects the distinct characteristics of a product associated with a specific region. It certifies the product’s origin, traditional recipe, and unique features at the national level.
As previously reported, Samarkand nohat shurak (Samarkand chickpea broth) was also registered as a geographical indication.
