Sherzod Namozov clinches second Paralympic Gold as Khusniddin Norbekov becomes three-time Paralympic Champion
The Uzbekistan delegation has been highly successful at the Paralympic Games in Paris. Notably, judo wrestler Sherzod Namozov has become a two-time Paralympic champion, while athlete Khusniddin Norbekov has claimed his third Paralympic title.
On September 5, the final match in the men's J2 class judo -60 kg weight category took place. Uzbekistan's Sherzod Namozov faced Georgia's Zurab Zurabiani in the battle for gold, with Namozov securing the victory and the gold medal.
With this victory, he became a two-time Paralympic champion. The athlete had won the championship at the 2016 Paralympic Games as well.

Additionally, on the night of September 6, Khusniddin Norbekov, competing in the men’s shot put event in the F35 class of para-athletics, recorded a distance of 16.82 meters on his second attempt, setting a new Paralympic record. As a result, the gold medal in this discipline went to the Uzbek record-holder.
The previous record of 16.22 meters was set by Guo Wei from China at the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing.
For reference, Norbekov had already won gold at both the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Summer Paralympic Games. He also holds one bronze medal.

The Uzbekistan delegation's medal count reached 17 (8 gold, 5 silver, 4 bronze), placing them 12th overall in the medal standings.
