BOOM: Real Madrid consider loan move for Abdukodir Khusanov
Real Madrid are considering a loan move for Uzbekistan national team and Manchester City defender Abdukodir Khusanov, according to Fichajes.
The report states that the Spanish giants are seriously considering the option of signing the Uzbek centre-back on loan, as he is not fully part of Manchester City’s current plans. Real Madrid are reportedly looking to reinforce their defensive line without incurring a major financial outlay.
Sources note that the potential deal fits Real Madrid’s current strategy. The club is seeking a short-term solution amid defensive injuries and limited rotation options. From this perspective, Khusanov is viewed as one of the most suitable options on the transfer market. Real Madrid have already contacted the English club to inquire about the terms of a possible loan.
The 21-year-old Uzbek footballer joined Manchester City from French club RC Lens in January this year for approximately €40 million. However, strong competition in Pep Guardiola’s squad has limited his playing time.
According to the report, Manchester City acknowledge that regular match practice is essential for the player’s development and are therefore open to a loan move, particularly to a top-level club such as Real Madrid.
It is emphasized that in Madrid, Khusanov’s physical strength, aerial dominance, and long-term potential are highly valued. He is seen as a modern centre-back, confident on the ball and adaptable to various tactical systems. Real Madrid plan to take him on loan and assess how he performs under high-level demands. At this stage, no mandatory purchase option is envisaged.
Beyond sporting considerations, the Madrid club are also taking into account the institutional and marketing aspects of the transfer. The arrival of an Uzbek footballer could help enhance the Real Madrid brand’s presence in the Asian market. While not decisive, this factor is considered significant in the overall evaluation.
Manchester City, for their part, are not intending to sell the player outright but are open to loaning him out for his development. Negotiations between the sides are still at an early stage, and any decision will depend on the loan terms and salary distribution. Real Madrid, meanwhile, are looking to strengthen their defence in the winter market without rushing, while maintaining financial balance.
