More than 9,300 Uzbek citizensreturned home from Middle Eastern countries
Evacuation efforts to bring Uzbek citizens back from Middle Eastern countries are ongoing. According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a total of 9,361 Uzbek nationals were returned to Uzbekistan between March 1 and 10:00 on March 5.
So far, through regular and additional charter flights, 8,114 citizens have been returned from Saudi Arabia, 1,192 from the United Arab Emirates, 23 from Iran, 25 from Bahrain, and 7 from Oman.
“Measures to return our compatriots to Uzbekistan are being implemented systematically and in stages. At present, evacuations are mainly being carried out from countries where the airspace remains open for civil aviation,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The ministry added that once airspace opens in other countries in the region, these measures will be promptly organized and continued. Uzbek citizens have therefore been urged to remain calm, avoid panic, and act prudently.
Compatriots currently staying abroad have also been asked to strictly comply with the internal rules and requirements of their host countries and to rely only on official information disseminated by the state authorities and diplomatic missions of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
