Liability for mistreatment of wildlife and plant life to be strengthened

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a new law (No. O'RQ-1004, dated November 21, 2024) introducing amendments to several legislative acts to enhance the protection of wildlife and plant life in Uzbekistan. As a result, measures for safeguarding the fauna and flora will be reinforced.
The law has been amended to strengthen liability for violations of regulations governing the use of wildlife and plant resources.
The law also imposes liability for intentionally damaging or destroying trees, shrubs, and other plants with chemical or biological agents during the construction or reconstruction of buildings and other structures.
The law also establishes increased responsibility for obstructing the activities of state environmental inspectors. Failure to comply with their directives to address violations of environmental protection laws will result in harsher consequences.
