Ziroat Mirziyoyeva named among the world’s 100 most influential women fighting cancer
The international platform OncoDaily has published a list of the world’s leading women in the fight against cancer. Among them is Ziroat Mahmudovna Mirziyoyeva, First Lady of Uzbekistan and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Zamin International Public Foundation, who was included in the “Top 100 Most Influential Women in Oncology.”
The ranking specifically highlights Mirziyoyeva's remarkable efforts through large-scale initiatives aimed at early detection and treatment of oncological diseases in children. She was recognized for strengthening international cooperation in this vital field and for her success in improving the survival rates for children with severe illnesses.
In September 2025, the First Lady chaired a global forum held within the UN General Assembly, organized in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The event focused on increasing survival rates and reducing suffering among children affected by cancer and other serious diseases.
According to the ranking, Mirziyoyeva’s work prioritizes ensuring equal access to medical care for children, particularly in countries with low survival rates. Her initiatives have aligned Uzbekistan’s national pediatric oncology development strategies with global targets, such as raising the childhood cancer survival rate to 60 percent by 2030. This alignment has significantly raised the country's profile in global health policy.
Mirziyoyeva’s inclusion in this prestigious list stands as recognition of her personal contribution to strengthening efforts against noncommunicable diseases at both the national and international levels. It also underscores the success of the wide-ranging reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan’s healthcare system under the New Uzbekistan initiative.
