The day our nation waited 33 years and 278 days for: Uzbekistan qualifies for the FIFA World Cup

Uzbekistanʼs national football team has reached a historic milestone by qualifying for the FIFA World Cup for the very first time. A goalless draw against the United Arab Emirates was enough to secure a place in the tournament.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19 across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This edition of the tournament is unique as it will be the first in history to be co-hosted by three countries. A total of 48 teams will participate, with 104 matches scheduled throughout the competition.
So far, the host nations — the United States, Canada, and Mexico — have automatically qualified. In addition, Japan, Iran, Argentina, and New Zealand have successfully advanced through the qualification stages and secured their places in the tournament.
World Cup matches will be held in 16 cities: 11 in the U.S., 2 in Canada, and 3 in Mexico. The opening match is scheduled for June 11, 2026, at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. The final will take place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, USA.
