French company to build solar and wind power plants in Gijduvan
France’s Voltalia plans to construct a hybrid power plant in Gijduvan district. The “green” project is valued at $400 million for one facility and $650 million for the other. Once implemented, it is expected to meet the electricity needs of more than 2 million people.
Under the agreement between the parties, construction will initially begin on a solar power plant and an energy storage facility. Work on the wind power plant is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2027. The two facilities are expected to help strengthen multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and France. The project is also noteworthy for being environmentally friendly and based on innovative renewable energy solutions. Recently, representatives of Voltalia met with officials of the Bukhara region to discuss activities to be carried out within the framework of a long-term agreement.
Founded in 2005, Voltalia is currently implementing major projects in 20 countries worldwide. In Uzbekistan, the company has also signed a 25-year agreement for the sale of electricity generated by its hybrid cluster.
