Tanzila Narbaeva receives British Secretary of State David Cameron
On 23 April, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva held a meeting with David Cameron, the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs of Great Britain.
The discussions centered around broadening the political and diplomatic dialogue between Uzbekistan and Great Britain, sustaining constructive cooperation on the international stage, strengthening trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian relations, and enhancing parliamentary ties.
During the dialogue, it was underscored that the relationship between our countries has reached a high level in recent years.
During the discussion, the emphasis was placed on joint projects aimed at developing the green economy, alongside the crucial importance of strengthening cooperation to address the challenges posed by climate change.
Furthermore, the development of educational and cultural-humanitarian ties was highlighted as a priority area. The practical aspects of training qualified specialists in modern fields in higher educational institutions and expanding educational programs taught in English are considered.
David Cameron stressed that Uzbekistan is undertaking significant efforts to ensure human rights, notably in implementing decent work principles, achieving gender equality, and combating domestic violence.
The meeting highlighted the substantial intensification of inter-parliamentary cooperation in recent years. Both parties shared perspectives on further expanding the dialogue in this area.
