President Shavkat Mirziyoyev Receives Delegation Led by Lombardy Governor

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation headed by Attilio Fontana, Governor of Lombardy, who arrived in Uzbekistan to attend the Tashkent Investment Forum.
Lombardy is one of Italyʼs largest and most populous regions, and ranks among the most economically advanced areas in Europe.
The meeting focused on practical steps to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation, particularly in trade, economic, and investment partnerships.
President Mirziyoyev noted with satisfaction the outcomes of recent talks in Samarkand with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, during which both sides agreed to support interregional cooperation.
Uzbekistan is currently implementing successful joint projects with Lombardy-based companies in areas such as tomato and saffron cultivation, and the production of non-woven fabrics, knitwear, and food products. Additional projects are in development, covering finished textiles, automotive electronics, construction materials, dairy and fruit processing, public transport development, and other sectors.
Both sides emphasized the importance of expanding the joint project portfolio and increasing the flow of Italian technology and investment into various sectors of Uzbekistanʼs economy.
It was agreed to hold an exhibition in Milan showcasing Uzbekistanʼs industrial and export potential, to open a trade house, and to launch an export line under the “Uzbek Organic” brand.
To enhance cultural and humanitarian exchange, plans are also under consideration to organize an exhibition of Uzbek museums in Milan in 2026.
Governor Fontana expressed sincere gratitude to President Mirziyoyev for the strong support given to business initiatives from Lombardy. He reaffirmed his commitment to promoting large-scale partnerships with regions across Uzbekistan.
At the conclusion of the meeting, President Mirziyoyev wished Governor Fontana success in preparing for and hosting the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan.
