Abdulla Muharramovich Ubaydullaev, an Honored Healthcare Worker of Uzbekistan and a prominent pulmonologist and academician, passed away at the age of 91. The news was confirmed by the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.

Born in 1934 in Tashkent, Ubaydullaev held several key positions throughout his career. He served as Director of the Scientific Research Institute of Phthisiology and Pulmonology under the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan; Head of the Department of Pulmonology and Clinical Allergology at the Centre for the Development of Professional Skills of Medical Workers (Tashkent Institute for Advanced Training of Doctors); and Chief Pulmonologist of the Ministry of Health. He was also recognised as an Honoured Healthcare Worker of Uzbekistan.

In 1978, on Ubaydullaev’s initiative, the Department of Pulmonology and Clinical Allergology and the Republican Pulmonology Service were established within the Tashkent Institute for Advanced Training of Doctors - one of the first such developments in the former Soviet Union.

His scientific work focused on the timely diagnosis of bronchopulmonary diseases, the influence of heredity, treatment approaches, and the impact of environmental changes on disease development. Throughout his career, he has contributed to the professional training of over 6,000 pulmonologists and general practitioners.

Ubaydullaev also supervised the training of 25 Doctors of Medical Sciences and 39 PhD holders in medicine, establishing a respected school of pulmonologists in Uzbekistan. He authored more than 700 scientific articles, over 100 of which were published internationally, along with 20 academic monographs and more than 30 methodological manuals for physicians.
