Private hospitalsʼ share in Uzbekistanʼs healthcare system unveiled

Currently, the number of private healthcare institutions exceeds 9,000, according to the press service of the Ministry of Health.
In 2017, there were about 3,500 private hospitals. Today, this number has surpassed 9,000.
The range of medical specialties private healthcare providers offer in Uzbekistan has increased from 50 to 225. Furthermore, private hospitals can now obtain licenses for various medical specialties, enabling more than 3,700 private clinics to expand their services by incorporating new medical specialties.
Private healthcare facilities currently account for 35% of the hospital beds in Uzbekistan. The number of inpatient beds in private clinics has grown significantly in recent years, reaching approximately 42,750 in 2024.
All private medical institutions offer outpatient services, with over 1,530 providing inpatient care. The range of medical services at private clinics has expanded significantly from 726 to 2,251 types.
The private sector provides 40% of laboratory services, 60% of ophthalmology and surgical ophthalmology services, 70% of ENT (ear, nose, and throat) and endoscopic ENT services, and 91% of dental diagnostics and treatments.
