Presidents of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Russia launch natural gas supplies

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev together with Presidents of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev and the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin launched the supply of Russian natural gas to Uzbekistan through the territory of Kazakhstan.
At the ceremony held in the mode of teleconference, the Head of our state noted the historical importance of this event which will bring trilateral cooperation in the energy sector to a qualitatively new level.
The President of Uzbekistan expressed gratitude to the leaders of Kazakhstan and Russia for their personal support in realizing this project. Separately, he thanked the specialists who took part in organization of gas supplies in the shortest possible time, reconstruction of the main gas pipeline sections, modernization of compressor stations and construction of a new gas metering station “Beyneu”.
It was emphasized that the launch of Russian gas imports in reverse mode is strategically important for Uzbekistan. This project is a breakthrough step in ensuring energy security of our country, diversifying guaranteed sources of "blue fuel" supplies, providing additional volumes to cover seasonal uneven consumption, creating reliable and uninterrupted supply of gas and electricity to the population.
The sides expressed confidence that the implementation of such a large-scale project and its results will serve to further strengthen the relations between the three countries.
