Gulshan Alimardonova becomes WKF karate World Champion
A historic achievement for New Uzbekistan has been recorded in Egypt: Gulshan Alimardonova has become a World Champion in karate.
The WKF Karate World Championships are currently taking place in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. Members of the Uzbekistan national team are participating with strong performances and have been securing consecutive historic results.
On November 30, Alimardonova, who competed in the -50 kg weight category, defeated Malaysia’s Shahmalarani Chandran in the gold medal bout. With this victory, she became the first female athlete in Uzbekistan’s karate history to win a World Championship title.
Previously, compatriot Dostonbek Otabolaev had won a gold medal at the World Championships, and now Alimardonova has also inscribed her name in history.
Abdulvahob Rashidov also claimed a bronze medal at the WKF Karate World Championships. With this result, he secured the second medal for the Uzbekistan delegation at the tournament.
This achievement opens a special chapter in the history of Uzbek karate and once again confirms that the potential of our athletes on the world stage is growing year by year.
For reference, more than 380 skilled karate athletes from 86 countries are participating in this competition.
