President of Uzbekistan advocates further development of inter-parliamentary relations
On January 24, as part of the state visit to China, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, met with Zhao Leji, the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China.
The highest level of Uzbek-Chinese relations was noted with satisfaction by both sides during the meeting, expressing confidence that the current visit would add a strong impetus to the expansion of the comprehensive strategic partnership.
In recent years, the volume of mutual trade has doubled and the number of joint ventures has tripled.
Interregional cooperation has expanded, as indicated by the successful outcomes of the first Uzbek-Chinese interregional forum, held in Urumqi on January 22.
China’s experience in poverty reduction is being actively implemented.
Interest was expressed in establishing training centers for technical specialists, studying China's experience in social protection, insurance, and targeted assistance to the population.
The need to enhance the inter-parliamentary dialogue and strengthen the activity of “Uzbekistan-China” friendship groups’ was stressed.
Special emphasis was given to ensuring effective parliamentary control over the practical implementation of high-level agreements.
The sides exchanged views on strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties.
The successful organization of Days of Chinese Culture in Uzbekistan last year and the events taking place in Beijing as part of Days of Uzbek Culture were noted with satisfaction.
