Presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan discussed prospects of bilateral practical cooperation

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilhom Aliev held a meeting in a narrow format in  Zagulba residence.

The Head of our state thanked President Ilhom Aliev for the invitation to visit Azerbaijan and the warm hospitality extended to the Uzbek delegation.

The leaders exchanged views on further expansion of multifaceted relations of strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

It was also noted that relations between parliaments, governments, regions, foreign policy and other agencies, as well as analytical circles have become more active. 

The trade volume between the two countries has been steadily growing in recent years. The number of joint ventures has increased fourfold.

Establishment of car assembly, silk and textile clusters of Uzbekistan in Azerbaijan can be excellent examples of effective cooperation. 

The business forum held on the eve of the visit resulted with the development of a significant package of new cooperation projects and trade agreements.

The leaders of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan discussed the prospects for the expansion of industrial cooperation in energy, mechanical engineering, metallurgy, urban planning, agriculture, minerals, textile, silk, pharmaceutical, electrical engineering and other sectors.

In order to support and promote joint projects, the sides emphasised the importance of ensuring the effective operation of the Uzbek-Azerbaijan Investment Company.

Special attention was paid to the development of cooperation in the field of transport and transit. The necessity to increase freight traffic along the Middle Corridor and joint development of logistics and port infrastructure was noted.

The Presidents stated the importance of developing interregional cooperation, organizing regular meetings of regional leaders of the two countries to develop jointly and to promote new cooperation projects.

The parties expressed their readiness to expand cultural and humanitarian exchanges, implement joint programs in the field of education and science.

The parties noted their desire to expand cultural, scientific and innovative relations. 
It was noted that the governments of the two countries will support the development of dialogue between businessmen and scientists.

The importance of unifying efforts to combat international terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, and cybercrimes was emphasized.

The Heads of State also exchanged views on the international and regional agenda, and discussed issues of ongoing active dialogue and mutual support within multilateral structures.
