Uzbekistan to contribute to construction of housing, schools, and hospitals in Gaza
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev delivered a speech at the first meeting of the “Peace Council,” held at the United States Institute of Peace. The event was broadcast live by the White House.
According to the head of state, Uzbekistan supports the peace initiative to establish the “Peace Council” and has expressed its firm intention to play practical role in its successful implementation.
“Allow me to express my sincere gratitude to the President of the United States, Donald Trump, for convening the Council’s inaugural meeting. Undoubtedly, today’s summit is the result of President Trump’s political will and pragmatism,” Mirziyoyev said in his address.
He emphasized that the Council’s activities will help create favorable conditions for economic and social recovery in the Gaza Strip.
The Uzbek leader also stated that any external governance mechanism must be implemented with the support of the local population, and that coordinated efforts would ensure stability in the post - war process and create conditions for Gaza’s swift reconstruction.
In addition, Uzbekistan announced its readiness to contribute to the construction of housing, kindergartens, schools, and hospitals.
