New Resolution: From May 1, Households to pay 800 UZS instead of 900 for mid-range (201 – 500 kWh) electricity usage

The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan has adopted Resolution No. 194 “On amendments and an addition to the Schedule for the gradual adjustment of prices for fuel and energy resources in 2024-2025 to support consumers of fuel and energy resources”.
According to the official Telegram page of the Ministry of Energy, a new resolution — developed under the instructions of the Head of State — introduces changes to the Schedule for the gradual adjustment of prices for fuel and energy resources in 2024-2025. These changes, aimed at easing the financial burden on the population, were approved under Resolution No. 204 of the Cabinet of Ministers, dated April 16, 2024.
One of the key changes includes the shifting of the price increase date from April 1 to May 1.
Additionally, a new consumption range is being introduced within the differentiated electricity tariff, covering usage between 201 kWh and 1,000 kWh. Starting from May 1, 2025, household consumers will pay 800 UZS per kilowatt-hour for consumption between 201 kWh and 500 kWh. Previously, the rate of 900 UZS was applied for consumption between 201 kWh and 1,000 kWh.
It is worth noting that households consuming an average of 500 kWh of electricity per month previously paid 360,000 UZS—comprising 90,000 UZS for the first 200 kWh and 270,000 UZS for the next 300 kWh (up to 500 kWh). After the tariff changes, they will continue paying the same total amount of 360,000 UZS, though with a revised breakdown: 120,000 UZS for the first 200 kWh and 240,000 UZS for the 201–500 kWh range. In other words, the overall cost for these households remains unchanged.
Furthermore, the resolution stipulates that electricity and natural gas prices will be indexed annually, starting from May 1, based on the annual inflation rate and capped at a maximum increase of 10 percent.
