Leaders of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan Underscore the Importance of Further Enhancing Multifaceted Cooperation

On April 5, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met in Khiva.
Issues of further strengthening strategic partnership and alliance as well as enhancing comprehensive practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan were discussed.
Special emphasis was placed on accelerating cooperation projects and implementing investment agreements and trade contracts achieved at the highest level previously.
The heads of state heard reports from Deputy Prime Ministers and co-chairs of Working Groups under the Intergovernmental Commission on promoting joint projects in mechanical engineering, energy, transport and logistics, mining, textile and food, and other industries.
The presidents gave specific instructions to increase trade turnover, form a long-term program of industrial cooperation, and implement infrastructure projects focusing on transportation and energy sectors.
The significance of initiating efforts to establish the International Center for Industrial Cooperation this year, along with broadening the activities of the joint foreign trade company, was emphasized.
Detailed discussions were held on the development of humanitarian and tourism ties, as well as the organization of joint events in culture, education, and sports.
The parties exchanged perspectives on regional matters, touching upon the rational utilization of water resources, collaboration within the Consultative Meetings of the Heads of State of Central Asia, and a discussion of the situation in Afghanistan.
The schedule of the upcoming joint events in bilateral and multilateral formats was considered.
The meeting took place in a traditionally open, warm, and friendly atmosphere.
