Karomat Omonova sets Asian record, becomes World Champion

Uzbekistan’s national para-athletics team has won another medal at the World Championships taking place in New Delhi, India, the Ministry of Sports reported.
According to the ministry, 20-year-old Uzbek athlete Karomat Omonova competed in the women’s shot put event in the F46 category, recording a result of 13.07 meters and outperforming all her rivals. She also set a new Asian record.
Women’s Shot Put (F46):
• Gold — Karomat Omonova (Uzbekistan) — 13.07 m (Asian record);
• Silver — Holly Robinson (New Zealand) — 12.86 m (Oceania record);
• Bronze — Katie Pegg (Canada) — 12.76 m.
Later, Jasur Khodjaev, who competed in the men’s shot put final in the F32 category, earned another gold medal for Uzbekistan.
Khodjaev achieved a throw of 9.96 meters, marking his best result of the season, surpassing all his competitors and becoming world champion.
Men’s Shot Put (F32):
• Gold — Jasur Khodjaev (Uzbekistan) — 9.96 m;
• Silver — Athanasios Konstantinidis (Greece) — 9.65 m;
• Bronze — Mohamed Najib (Algeria) — 9.56 m.
With these results, Uzbekistan’s national team has now secured a total of eight medals —three gold, four silver, and one bronze.
The competitions are still underway. Today, Uzbek athletes Yorqinbek Odilov and Ilhom Turgunov advanced to the F57 men’s discus throw final, while Fakhriddin Khamraev qualified for the T12 men’s 400-meter final.
