International eco-marathon held in Karakalpakstan
ʻContribution to Future of Our Planetʼ international eco-marathon took place in the unique natural area of Karakalpakstan — the Barsa-Kelmes region (an island near the Aral Sea).
The marathon was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change and the ProRun Running School.

250 professional and amateur runners from 11 countries, including Uzbekistan, India, Kenya, Togo, Sudan, Jordan, Spain, Canada, Denmark, Belarus, and Russia, participated in the event.
Among the participants were Farah Majid, an ambassador for Nike who promotes running among Muslim women, and Ghani Sulayman, a representative from Adidas.

The two-day event included accommodation in a yurt camp, a cultural program, an ethno-show, a tour of the Barsa-Kelmes region, a 42 km marathon, a 21 km half marathon, and 5 km and 10 km races.
