First batch of electric cars produced at BYD Plant in Jizzakh

The Joint Venture BYD Uzbekistan Factory in Jizzakh region has started producing its first electric cars. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited this innovative factory on June 27.
This represents a significant milestone in our domestic automotive industry and a major historical event. The plant was launched in January during the Uzbek leader's visit to China earlier this year. This is the first phase of a $160 million project with the capacity to produce 50,000 electric vehicles annually.
The joint venture was equipped with modern industrial infrastructure to support this endeavor. Almost 2 kilometers of railway tracks were laid. A component warehouse and a logistics center capable of handling 1,200 containers were constructed to ensure consistent production.
The factory is equipped with modern technology and robotic systems imported from China to ensure a highly automated production process. A laboratory has been established for high-precision testing of the geometric dimensions of every electric car produced.
The President toured the plant and talked to Chinese partners.
Currently, the plant produces the Chazor and Song Plus Champion models. Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the first electric car to come off the assembly line.
The Head of state was also briefed on plans for localizing production.
There are plans to expand the car models range produced at the plant in the coming years. During the second phase of the project, worth $300 million, the production aims to increase to 200,000 electric cars annually while the goal for the third phase, valued at $500 million, is to ramp up production to 500,000 electric cars per year.
