150th Anniversary of Mahmudkhodja Behbudiʼs Birth to be celebrated

A Presidential decree “On the Wide Celebration of the 150th Anniversary of Mahmudkhodja Behbudi, Founder of the Turkestan Jadid Movement, Prominent Writer, Public Figure, Publisher, and Educator” has been issued.
According to the decree, the year 2025 will see a wide range of events honoring the 150th anniversary of Mahmudkhodja Behbudiʼs birth, recognizing his pivotal role in the Turkestan Jadid Movement and his significant contributions to literature, education, and public service.
A program for the commemoration has been approved and focuses on the following key activities:
— Preparing and publishing a collection of Behbudiʼs selected works and scientific-popular books about his life and contributions;
— Staging plays about Mahmudkhodja Behbudi and organizing public screenings of the Mahmudkhodja Behbudi TV series and the documentary film “Xalq Yuragi” (“Heart of the People”);
— Holding national essay competitions on the theme “Lessons from Mahmudkhodja Behbudi” among students of schools, creative schools, cadets of “Temurbeklar maktabi,” and higher educational institutions;
— Organizing an international scientific-practical conference in October 2025 on the topic “Current Aspects of Studying the Legacy of Mahmudkhodja Behbudi and the Jadid Movement”;
— Holding a festive literary-enlightenment evening in November 2025 dedicated to the memory of the great figure, to commemorate Behbudiʼs 150th anniversary.
