Uzbekistan to unify Internal Affairs IT systems on an AI-based platform
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a resolution titled “On Comprehensive Measures for the Digital Transformation of the Internal Affairs System,” according to the Telegram channel “Huquqiy axborot.”
The resolution outlines a comprehensive set of measures to modernize the internal affairs system through digital transformation. It sets clear directions for the sectorʼs digitization from 2025 to 2027, aiming to significantly enhance the efficiency of crime prevention and law enforcement.
A key component of the initiative is the integration of all information infrastructure within the internal affairs system into a unified platform powered by artificial intelligence. This approach is intended to minimize human involvement in crime detection and analysis and to enable the use of automated algorithms in decision-making.
The plan also calls for the coordination of all digital implementation efforts under a centralized management system. Dedicated “digital teams” will be established within relevant units to ensure their operations align with a unified strategic framework.
Under the resolution, statistics on crimes and administrative offenses will be compiled using fully automated digital methods, removing human input to ensure greater accuracy and faster processing. In support of this, a Department of Digital Technologies and Legal Statistics will be created, along with its regional branches.
As a pilot project, a new position — Deputy Head of the Main Department – Head of the Digital Technologies and Legal Statistics Service — will be introduced within the Main Departments of Internal Affairs in Tashkent city and Tashkent region. The effectiveness of the digital reforms will be evaluated through this pilot, with the possibility of expanding the initiative to other regions in the future.
