On August 17, Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov visited Kabul. During the visit, bilateral meetings were held, and several issues were discussed.

Afghanistan's Acting Prime Minister Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs Abdul Kabir, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Amir Khan Muttaqi participated in the meetings.

The discussions focused on developing trade relations with Afghanistan, advancing effective cooperation in the energy sector to a new level, implementing joint projects for the exploration of copper, iron, and oil-gas fields, as well as deepening transport logistics, agriculture, water management, education, and inter-regional relations.
It was noted during the meeting that there are opportunities to increase mutual trade turnover to $1 billion by 2024, and to $3 billion in the near future.

It was also noted that agreements on bilateral investment protection and preferential trade were identified as significant drivers for further developing trade and economic cooperation. Other issues related to maintaining regular mutually beneficial dialogue and the steady development of bilateral relations were reviewed. Several documents were signed at the end of the meetings. However, the specific details of the documents were not disclosed.

For reference, Uzbekistan was among the first to establish constructive and mutually acceptable dialogue with Afghanistan's interim government.
