In the Asian Cup U23 semifinals in Qatar, Uzbekistan's Olympic team made history by defeating Indonesia and securing their first-ever Olympic qualification. The team led by Temur Kapadze will take part in the biggest sporting event of every quadrennial, held in Paris.

Despite numerous opportunities for our team in the first half of the semi-final match, held in Doha, the score remained unopened. In the second half, with the dynamic entry of Jasurbek Jaloliddinov and Husayn Norchaev onto the field, the attack intensified.

Although the Indonesians opened the scoring in the 63rd minute, the head referee canceled the goal due to an offside situation following a VAR review.

Norchayev converted a pass from Muhammadkadir Khamraliyev into a goal in the 68th minute, scoring 1-0. In the 84th minute, Indonesian captain Rizki Ridkho was shown a red card for misconduct towards Jasurbek Jaloliddinov. In the following minutes, the game took a dramatic turn as opposing defender Arhan accidentally put the ball into his net, following a header by Abdukadir Khusanov  - 2:0.

In a historic triumph, the Uzbekistan Olympic team has secured a spot in the Paris 2024 Olympics, marking a milestone for Uzbek football. Our representatives are set to go head-to-head against the Japanese national team in the highly anticipated final of the Asian Cup.

Following the match, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev extended his heartfelt congratulations to our players: “It is certainly worthy of high praise that our determined young people, like you, prepared thoroughly for this competition under the guidance of experienced coaches and experts, and showed true skill, courage, and tenacity in every game. In five matches against the strongest teams from across Asia, you have not only kept a clean sheet but also scored 14 unanswered goals, marking an unparalleled achievement in the history of our football. I am confident that this remarkable achievement will further inspire you, fueling your determination to fiercely contend for the prestigious title of "Champion of Asia" in the final competition.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to all of you, supportive parents, dedicated teachers, and mentors,” conveyed the President in his message of appreciation.
