Shavkat Mirziyoyev meets Russian State Duma speaker

On March 14, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Vyacheslav Volodin. The meeting focused on pressing issues concerning the comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance between Uzbekistan and Russia.
At the start of the meeting, Volodin conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Emphasis was placed on strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation to ensure the implementation of agreements reached during President Putinʼs state visit to Uzbekistan in May last year.
The Uzbek leader highlighted the importance of preparing for the second meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission, which is set to take place in Uzbekistan with broader regional engagement from both countries.
It was noted that parliaments should play an active role in supporting and accelerating priority projects in trade, economic, and investment cooperation, as well as joint programs in labor migration and cultural-humanitarian exchanges.
