Presidents express satisfaction with the productive negotiations

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko made statements to media representatives following the high–level talks.
The results of the regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, the Inter-Regional Forum, and the meeting of the Businessmen's Council held on the eve of President Lukashenko’s visit were noted with satisfaction. Meetings of rectors of leading universities and heads of medical institutions were held earlier.
The President of Uzbekistan called journalists' attention to the qualitative shifts in Uzbek-Belarusian cooperation in the last several years. Uzbek Leader noted the intensification of contacts at all levels, increased trade turnover, cooperation projects, the resumption of cultural and humanitarian exchanges, and direct flights between countries.
The leaders noted that they had conducted comprehensive discussions, covering a wide range of Uzbek-Belarusian relations in detail. They also established priorities and targets for the development of multifaceted partnerships.
The commitment to deepening dialogue within the framework of regional and international organizations - the United Nations, the CIS and the SCO - was confirmed.
Special attention was paid to the issues of trade turnover growth. The leaders of the two countries agreed to aim to increase it to more than 1 billion USD in the coming years.
They agreed to set up a joint foreign trade company and introduce trade support mechanisms to achieve this.
Priority areas of industrial cooperation have been identified. These are the agro-industrial complex, electrical and textile industries, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, urban planning, and public utilities.
Special attention was paid to the effective use of the potential and opportunities of interregional contacts.
Active exchanges in culture and art, higher and professional education, tourism, youth, and sports will be continued. Specific directions of cooperation in the field of health were defined.
The parties agreed to organize regular medical, educational, and tourism forums.
Confidence was expressed that the reached agreements and signed documents would strengthen the friendship between Uzbekistan and Belarus and fill the multifaceted partnership with specific practical content.
