President of Uzbekistan meets newly elected UNESCO Director-General
On 12 November, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Khaled El-Enany, the newly elected Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The meeting reviewed the outcomes of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference held in Samarkand and discussed prospects for further strengthening cooperation with the organization.
At the start of the conversation, President Mirziyoyev congratulated Mr. El-Enany on his election to the high post and wished him success in his upcoming work.
In response, the UNESCO Director-General expressed gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for support and the high-level organization of the main UNESCO event.
It was noted with satisfaction that Uzbekistan and UNESCO have established systemic and productive cooperation across a wide range of areas. Both sides reaffirmed their strong commitment to further expanding joint efforts, including the organization’s project activities in Uzbekistan.
Mr. El-Enany also emphasized his readiness to work together on implementing the strategic initiatives put forward by the President of Uzbekistan during the opening ceremony of the UNESCO General Conference.
