President of Uzbekistan discusses projects for developing a full-scale partnership with a delegation from Saudi Arabia

On November 27, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation from Saudi Arabia headed by the Minister of Investment of the Kingdom Khalid al-Falih.
Current issues of further expansion of multifaceted cooperation and full-scale partnership between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia were discussed, including the unconditional practical implementation of agreements at the highest level.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Investment conveyed to the Leader of Uzbekistan sincere greetings and best wishes from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia and Crown Prince, Prime Minister Muhammad bin Salman Al Saud.
The Head of our state noted with great satisfaction the dynamic development of mutually beneficial cooperation in recent years.
Trade turnover and the volume of Saudi direct investment in the economy of Uzbekistan, primarily in green energy, are growing, and the frequency of direct flights between countries is increasing.
With the support of the Saudi Fund for Development, a number of socially significant projects are being implemented in healthcare, education, water supply, and other areas.
A joint fund is being created to expand the economic opportunities of Uzbekistan.
As part of the Saudi delegation’s current visit, agreements on implementing mutually beneficial projects were signed in chemistry, energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, IT, and infrastructure development worth $12 billion.
The importance of accelerating the implementation of large energy projects in various regions of Uzbekistan was emphasized.
An agreement was also reached to promote new projects and programs worth $11 billion in transport infrastructure and utilities, geology, irrigation, household waste processing, higher education, and labor migration.
The significance of the partnership with ACWA Power, a major investor and strategic partner in the development of green energy in Uzbekistan, was also underscored. The company is currently implementing projects worth $7.5 billion.
The President of Uzbekistan welcomed the launch of a modern combined cycle power plant with a capacity of 1.5 gigawatts in Syrdarya region, as well as the construction of a piloted production of green hydrogen facility in Tashkent region.
A ceremony was held to award Minister Khalid Al-Falih the “Dustlik” Order for his outstanding contribution and comprehensive support for developing multifaceted and mutually beneficial relations between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia.
