Nine trees in Uzbekistan included in the international list of rare trees

The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of Uzbekistan has proposed nine additional rare trees for inclusion in the international MonumentalTrees.com register.
The list includes five elm trees over 100 years old located in Karakalpakstan, a mulberry tree more than 200 years old in the city of Jizzakh, and another mulberry tree aged between 250 and 300 years in the city of Kattakurgan. A 450-year-old tree in Narpay district and a plane tree over 1,000 years old in Payaryk district of the Samarkand region were also nominated.
With these additions, Uzbekistan becomes the first country in Central Asia and the third among CIS member states to have its natural heritage sites recognized on the international list. Russia and Azerbaijan were previously included.
Notably, a 1,500-year-old Eastern Biota tree in the Forish district of the Jizzakh region was previously added to the MonumentalTrees.com list.
