Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev awarded Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, the Order of “Dostyk” (Friendship), Second Degree. The Akorda press service reported this.

On 18 August, President Tokayev received Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis, who was in Astana on an official visit at the invitation of Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairperson of the Senate of Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, the sides discussed key issues of strategic partnership and alliance between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, as well as ways to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Congratulating Narbayeva, President Tokayev said her visit was clear evidence of the special nature of strategic relations between the two countries. He also praised her personal contribution to deepening friendship and good-neighborly ties between the two nations.

“Your visit carries great importance in strengthening friendly relations between our countries. We attach primary significance to developing cooperation with brotherly Uzbekistan. We see this as a crucial factor in ensuring stability and security in Central Asia. The stronger, closer and more effective our ties are, the more peaceful the situation in the region will be. I also view your visit as particularly important for advancing inter-parliamentary cooperation, which is a key component of relations between our states,” the Kazakh President said.

In turn, Tanzila Narbayeva thanked the Kazakh Tokayev for his hospitality and conveyed greetings from the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

“Our President sent you his warm greetings and wished success in implementing the agreed tasks. He stressed that all agreements are under his personal supervision. We — the President’s entire team, including Parliament — are working tirelessly to put them into practice and achieve concrete results. As you said, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are the closest and most reliable partners,” said the Chairperson of the Uzbek Senate.

Tokayev and Narbayeva also discussed the development of inter-parliamentary diplomacy, as well as trade, economic and investment cooperation, with particular attention to cultural and humanitarian ties.
