Bakhodir Jalolov Boxing School opens in Tashkent

On March 5, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the specialized boxing school of Bakhodir Jalolov built in Tashkent.
Olympic and Asian Games champion, two-time world champion, and three-time Asian champion Bakhodir Jalolov can rightfully be hailed as Uzbekistan's strongest athlete. He has been successfully participating in professional boxing in recent years.
In our country, special attention is paid to promoting the endeavors of champions like him and leveraging their expertise in nurturing young athletes. According to the decree of the head of state dated March 14, 2022, another sports facility - the specialized boxing school of Bakhodir Jalolov was established.
The school aims to train international-level boxers under the guidance of experienced and highly qualified coaches, incorporating international standards and best practices.
All necessary facilities have been provided in a modern four-story building. The first floor accommodates the main sports hall, swimming pool, medical office, and canteen. There are rooms for psychology, foreign languages, theoretical classes, and IT lessons along with a 45-bed hotel on the second floor. On the third and fourth floors, there is a 235-bed dormitory and a spirituality room. Additionally, there is an underground parking lot.
The capacity of the Boxing School is intended to accommodate 175 students, with an annual enrollment of 25 students for grades from 5 to 11. Since its establishment in 2022, 50 talented students have been studying here selected from across the republic.
The school is situated next to Secondary School #259 in the Yunusabad district, where young boxers can get a general education.
In 2023, students from the specialized boxing school of Bakhodir Jalolov secured an impressive tally of 26 gold, 18 silver, and 15 bronze medals across various international and national competitions. Participation in many tournaments is also planned this year.
The Head of state met with young athletes and industry leaders. Regions joined the meeting via video link.
“We have declared this year the Year of Support for Youth and Business. We consistently prioritize this matter and strive to create opportunities for young people. They possess immense potential and aspirations, which is why our nation stands as one of the global leaders in boxing. The establishment of this school aims to nurture the talents of our youth. The Bakhodir Jalolov School, like Presidential schools, will serve as a benchmark in its field. Boxing methodology, nutrition, medicine, and psychology will also develop in regional sports schools," Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated.
Regional leaders were instructed to enhance collaboration with sports federations and support their activities locally. Emphasis was placed on the importance of increasing the popularity of sports among young people, particularly by attracting them to boxing and improving facilities in sports schools and clubs.
