Shavkat Mirziyoyev receives Prime Minister of Georgia
On March 5, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a Georgian delegation headed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, who is staying in our country for an official visit.
At the beginning of the meeting, the distinguished guest conveyed the greetings and best wishes from Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili to the leader of Uzbekistan.
Discussions focused on expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in trade and economic relations, investment, transport and logistics, tourism, and cultural exchanges.
Bilateral ties between Uzbekistan and Georgia continue to expand, with active cooperation at both parliamentary and governmental levels. In 2024, trade turnover between the two nations increased by 50%, accompanied by increased joint enterprises and cargo transportation volumes. Direct flights between the capitals have been introduced, further strengthening connectivity. Additionally, a digital bank with Georgian investment is now operating in Uzbekistan. In the cultural sphere, the Days of Uzbek Culture and Film were successfully held in Tbilisi last year.
During the conversation, the results of the latest meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, held in Tashkent, were highly praised.
It was emphasized that coordinated measures should be taken to maintain the pace of trade turnover, ensure a balance between exports and imports, promote industrial cooperation projects, effectively utilize transport and transit potential, and actively involve the regions of both countries in economic cooperation.
Special attention was given to expanding partnerships and exchanges in the fields of digitalization and tourism infrastructure development.
Both sides agreed to strengthen collaboration at the government level to ensure the effective implementation of agreements reached during the talks.
