Uzbekistan to host first “Central Asia – European Union” Summit
On April 3-4, the first “Central Asia – European Union” summit will be held in Samarkand.
The summit, chaired by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, will be attended by President of the European Council António Costa, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow.
The event, held under the slogan “Investing in the Future,“ is also expected to welcome the heads of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank.
The agenda includes discussions on expanding multifaceted relations and strengthening practical cooperation between Central Asian countries and the European Union.
Key topics will focus on expanding investment partnerships, increasing trade, fostering innovation, and promoting cooperation in green energy, mining, agriculture, transport, logistics, and digitalization. Additionally, the summit will emphasize cultural, tourism, scientific, and educational exchanges.
Delegation leaders will exchange views on pressing international and regional political issues.
As part of the program, on April 4, Central Asian leaders and EU officials will participate in the plenary session of the Samarkand International Climate Forum.
Additionally, within the summit framework, the President of Uzbekistan is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with foreign delegation leaders.
