Uzbekistan ranks 25th among the world’s safest countries

Uzbekistan has secured a prominent spot among the world’s safest nations, based on results from the first half of 2025. According to the latest international crime index published by the Numbeo portal, Uzbekistan ranked 25th with a safety index score of 73.4. This ranking positions the country not only on the global safety map but also as a leading nation in Central Asia in terms of security.
The index is based on two key indicators: the Crime Index, which measures the level of criminal activity, and the Safety Index, which reflects the level of safety. Countries with lower crime scores are considered relatively safer. In the January–June 2025 period, among neighboring Central Asian countries, Kazakhstan was ranked 73rd (with a score of 54.4), while Kyrgyzstan stood at 101st (with a score of 48). Turkmenistan and Tajikistan did not participate in the ranking.
According to Numbeo’s data, Uzbekistan currently ranks ahead of countries such as the Czech Republic and Switzerland in terms of safety. This reflects to a continued positive trend in the country’s security indicators. For comparison, in the same period of 2024, Uzbekistan was ranked 27th with an index score of 71.
Haiti was ranked as the most dangerous country in the current index. Other countries with high crime rates include Papua New Guinea (80.7), Venezuela (80.5), Afghanistan (75.2), and South Africa (74.6). In contrast, the United Arab Emirates, Andorra, and Qatar are listed as the safest countries.
It is important to note that the Numbeo index is not based on official government statistics but on surveys completed directly by users. These surveys are integrated with research from academic and government institutions and capture public perceptions related to crime and safety, including general sentiment, daytime and nighttime safety, threats to property, violence, harassment, and discrimination. The index is regularly updated and calculated using data from the past five years.
