Uzbekistan President meets Hungarian National Assembly Speaker

On May 20, during his official visit to Budapest, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with László Kövér, Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly.
The meeting focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Hungary, with particular emphasis on expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the growing intensity of mutual visits and meetings between the two countriesʼ parliamentary delegations.
In April of this year, Deputy Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly János Latorcai took part in the 150th Anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Tashkent. Additional visits are planned for later this year, including trips to Uzbekistan by the Deputy Speaker and the Chair of the Economic Committee of the Hungarian Parliament and a visit to Budapest by a Uzbek parliamentary delegation.
The discussions highlighted the importance of facilitating the implementation of signed agreements and reinvigorating the work of friendship groups.
The sides also emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between relevant parliamentary committees. These links would facilitate the exchange of legislative experience, particularly in areas such as regional development, social protection, taxation, and digitalization.
