Uzbekistan boxing team dominates at Asian Championships

From August 1 to 11, Bangkok, Thailand, hosted the Asian Championships for youth and U-22 boxers. Uzbekistan’s national team delivered an outstanding performance, topping the overall medal standings. The Uzbekistan Boxing Federation reported the news.

The U-19 (youth) competition concluded on 9 August, with Uzbek boxers winning 7 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze medals — enough to secure first place in the team rankings. The U-22 events wrapped up two days later, on 11 August.

According to the final results, the U-22 team added 8 gold, 6 silver, and 4 bronze medals to Uzbekistan’s tally, once again finishing first on the continent. Across both age categories, the national team collected a total of 15 gold, 9 silver, and 7 bronze medals.

This year’s championship was the first-ever Asian Youth event organized by the World Boxing. Uzbekistan’s national team sent 38 boxers and returned with an impressive 31 medals.

On the morning of 12 August, the champions returned home to a hero’s welcome. They were greeted at Tashkent International Airport, named after Islam Karimov, by First Deputy Chairman of the Uzbekistan Boxing Federation Saken Polatov, Deputy Minister of Sports Shahrullo Mahmudov, federation officials, media representatives, and the athletes’ families.
