For example, during the past six months, about 4,000 car accidents took place, 873 people died, and more than 3,500 were injured.

"Note that 48 percent of accidents are caused by deficiencies in the road infrastructure.

The responsibility of "Uzavtoyol" and the authorities to improve the situation is not seen at all. They are busy only laying asphalt, and neglect road safety," the head of state said.

In this regard, O. Saidov, Head of Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, was reprimanded. Also, Road Safety Department heads of Jizzakh, Surkhandarya and Khorezm regions were dismissed from their positions.
