President of Uzbekistan and the EBRD President express satisfaction with the highest level of partnership

On May 1st, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with a European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) delegation, led by its President, Odile Renaud-Basso. This meeting took place on the eve of the Tashkent International Investment Forum and the second gathering of the Council of Foreign Investors.
The highest level of partnership achieved in recent years and the close and fruitful cooperation between Uzbekistan and EBRD was noted with deep satisfaction.
Today, the Bank’s project portfolio in Uzbekistan surpasses 4.4 billion euros, with the private sector accounting for nearly 70 percent of these initiatives.
A new partnership strategy has been adopted between Uzbekistan and the EBRD, aimed at expanding the areas and scope of cooperation, primarily in small and medium-sized enterprises, women’s entrepreneurship, alternative energy, and digital technologies.
With the Bank’s active support and direct participation, measures are being taken to prepare state-owned enterprises for privatization. Also, major transactions have been implemented in the banking and finance sector, and the regulatory framework in green energy, transport infrastructure, ecology, and other priority areas is being improved.
The Head of state underscored the importance of expediting the preparation and implementation of new projects in water supply, energy, road infrastructure, and the development of eco-friendly urban areas.
Discussions also took place regarding the agenda for the upcoming meeting of the Council of Foreign Investors.
