Nodirbek Abdusattorov and Magnus Carlsen team up to compete for €350,000 Prize Fund
 
                Today, one of the most prestigious tournaments. ‘FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Team Championship 2024, started. This event, held in Astana, Kazakhstan, from August 1 to 6, gathers the world's strongest chess players, including five Uzbek chess players participating in various teams.
The competition is held in two formats: 'rapid' (15 minutes per game + 10 seconds per move) and 'blitz' (3 minutes per game + 2 seconds per move).
According to the tournament rules, teams of 6 to 9 chess players compete for the title. Each team must include at least one female player and one player with a FIDE rating of less than 2000 points.
Nodirbek Abdusattarov, Uzbekistan's number one chess player, will compete as part of the current champion team ‘WR Chess Team’. This team includes four-time world chess champion Magnus Carlsen, Russian super-grandmaster Ian Nepomniachtchi, Polish player Jan-Krzysztof Duda, Chinese player Hou Yifan, Indian player Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu, German grandmaster Vincent Keymer, young chess player Vadim Rosenstein, and Alexandra Kosteniuk.
The team ‘Royal Chess’, which includes four Olympiad champions of Uzbekistan, is also competing for the title. This team features our players Javokhir Sindarov, Nodirbek Yakubboev, Shamsiddin Vokhidov, Jahongir Vokhidov, Tohir Vokhidov, Daler Vokhidov, and Marjona Malikova.
The competition has a prize fund of €350,000.
Previously, the Uzbek rower missed out on the Olympic final by a mere 5 seconds.
