Otabek Isroilov/"Xalq So'zi". Tashkent region is set to boost lemon and grape cultivation on household plots as part of a new initiative. Governor of Tashkent region Zoyir Mirzayev has signed a resolution aimed at popularizing these crops across the region.

The Parkent district has gained extensive experience in viticulture, and the Qibray district has developed strong expertise in lemon cultivation within the Tashkent region. Considering this, efforts have been initiated in the area to efficiently utilize household plots, arrange crop placement, connect them to neighborhoods, and supply seedlings and seeds.

Particularly, starting in 2025, over 118,000 households in the region will be encouraged to plant lemon and grape seedlings. Homestead service enterprises, farming cooperatives, and other entrepreneurial entities will assist residents in this process. For this initiative, Buka, Parkent, Ohangaron, Bekobod, Piskent, Tashkent, Yangiyul, Urta Chirchiq, Bustonliq, and Qibray districts have been selected.

At the same time, mahallas (neighborhoods) that are not making full use of their household plots will be identified in each district, and local staff will be assigned to assist them. The cultivation of fruits and vegetables will be closely monitored.

In addition, measures will be taken to address challenges with water supply in certain areas of Akkurgan, Buka, Urta Chirchiq, Yuqori Chirchiq, and Parkent districts. Vertical wells will be drilled to irrigate household plots, helping to boost agricultural production.
