Baby born at Tashkent metro station

A baby was born today, 6 October, at the Gafur Gulyam station of the Tashkent Metro, the metro’s press service reported.
According to the statement, an internal affairs officer at the station informed the officer on duty, Naima Makhamadjanova, the station dispatcher responsible for train arrivals and departures, about the condition of a female passenger in the station’s underpass.
Assessing the situation correctly, Makhamadjanova applied the special knowledge and skills she had been trained in to provide first aid. She assisted the woman in safely delivering her baby and took the necessary steps to ensure the newborn’s health, including tying the umbilical cord and stimulating the baby’s breathing reflex.
The station staff called an ambulance and contacted the woman’s relatives. Until the medical team arrived, approximately 10 minutes later, the metro staff monitored the condition of the mother and baby and ensured their safety.
Both the mother and the baby are in good health and have been taken to the hospital.
