Aytjan Khalmakhanov becomes World Champion in Greco-Roman wrestling

Uzbekistan national team member Aytjan Khalmakhanov has won a gold medal at the World Championships in Greco-Roman wrestling. He became the first Uzbek athlete in 24 years to claim a world title in this discipline.
Competing in the 63 kg weight category at the World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia, Khalmakhanov defeated South Korea’s Chung Han-jae in the final.
This is Uzbekistan’s first gold medal in Greco-Roman wrestling at a world championship since 2001, when Dilshod Aripov triumphed in the 58 kg category at the tournament in Patras, Greece.
Overall, Uzbekistan’s national team earned one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals at the competition.
Gold medal:
63 kg: Aytjan Khalmakhanov (Greco-Roman wrestling).
Silver medal:
60 kg: Alisher Ganiev (Greco-Roman wrestling).
Bronze medals:
57 kg: Gulomjon Abdullaev (freestyle wrestling);
65 kg: Umidjon Jalolov (freestyle wrestling);
72kg: Abdullo Aliev (Greco-Roman wrestling).
