President signs decree on support measures for Palestinians in Uzbekistan
On 14 August, a Presidential Decree was issued titled “On measures to establish a system of state care and assistance for a group of Palestinian citizens in Uzbekistan based on compassion and mercy.”
The document approves the composition of a Republican Commission to assist Palestinian patients and their companions in adapting to life in Uzbekistan.
Under the decree, Palestinian citizens (guests) brought to Uzbekistan with illnesses leading to disability will be officially recognized as disabled, regardless of the treatment period specified in legislation.
They will be granted pensions equivalent to those provided to elderly citizens without sufficient work experience. In addition, each guest of working age will receive a monthly subsistence allowance equal to the minimum consumption expenditure.
Each guest family will have their housing rental costs covered.
Furthermore, every family will receive a one-time payment for the purchase of essential household non-food items.
To provide personal support and individual assistance, one local social worker will be assigned to each guest family.
Children of the guests will be placed in state preschools and schools at their place of residence. Until 1 January 2028, parents will be exempt from paying for children’s upkeep in state preschools.
Their children will be admitted to state preschools and schools without being placed on waiting lists, based on requests from the “Inson” Centers.
At their place of residence, the guests will be registered with family doctor points, family polyclinics, and district (city) multidisciplinary central polyclinics.
