Four higher education institutions in Uzbekistan were included in the world’s top 1,000universities in subject-specific rankings, according to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation. 

According to the ministry, the UK-based ranking organization Times Higher Education has published the World University Rankings 2026 by Subject, which assesses universities worldwide across individual academic disciplines. 

The rankings feature four universities from Uzbekistan, including Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov, which has been included in the subject-based rankings for the first time.

The universities and their respective rankings are as follows:
·   Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers – National Research University ranked 301–400 in Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics, and 401–500in Engineering.
·   National University of Uzbekistan ranked 801–1000 in Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Statistics.
·   Tashkent State Technical University ranked 501–600 in Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics, and 801–1000 in Engineering.
·   Tashkent University of Information Technologies ranked 601–800 in Education,801–1000 in Engineering, and 1001+ in Computer Science and Programming.
