Uzbekistan to establish Agricultural Sciences Academy
During a meeting with agricultural sector workers, the President announced the establishment of an Agricultural Sciences Academy in Uzbekistan.
"I will keep repeating: where there is no science and research, there is no development, growth, or progress," - the Head of State said.
Today, 22 research centres and 260 laboratories operate in the agricultural sector, employing hundreds of highly qualified scientists and researchers. To fully utilise this potential, an Academy of Agricultural Sciences will be established to ensure integration between “science, education, and production.” The academy will be responsible for the development of fundamental and applied research in the field of agriculture.
Last year, an Institute for the Advanced Training of Agricultural Personnel was created on the basis of four existing institutes. More than 8,000 sector specialists - farmers, smallholder farmers (dehgans), and cluster employees - receive training there annually in modern agrotechnologies.
Officials were instructed to bring in qualified agronomists from the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Türkiye, and China and introduce a system for regularly training farmers and smallholder farmers (dehgans) in new agricultural innovations.
Additionally, 200 of the most advanced cotton and grain farmers, 200 leading horticulturists and dehgans, and 100 of the most active agricultural exporters will be sent to China, Türkiye, the Netherlands, France, and other countries for training. All travel and accommodation expenses for these 500 participants will be fully covered.
