Tashkent State Medical University to be established

A presidential decree has been issued to establish Tashkent State Medical University, based on the merger of three major institutions: the Tashkent Medical Academy, the Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute, and the Tashkent State Dental Institute.
In addition, a Medical Scientific-Innovative Research Institute will be created based on the Central Scientific Research Laboratory of the Tashkent Medical Academy. The Urgench branch of the academy will be reorganized as the Urgench State Medical Institute.
The multidisciplinary clinic of the Tashkent Medical Academy, the clinic of the Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute, and the clinic of the Tashkent State Dental Institute will become clinics of the Tashkent State Medical University. Furthermore, the Termez and Chirchik branches of the Tashkent Medical Academy will be renamed the Termez and Chirchik branches of the Tashkent State Medical University, respectively.
The reform also extends to pre-university education: the academic lyceums of the three institutions will be renamed Academic Lyceums No. 1, 2, and 3 of Tashkent State Medical University.
The decree also outlines a key priority for the new university: aligning its educational programs with international medical education standards and implementing competency-based medical education programs as one of its main objectives and areas of focus.
