New Tashkent to become a “Green City”

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev examined the ongoing construction and landscaping projects in the territory of New Tashkent.
The foundation stone for this new city was laid on March 18, 2023. At the ceremony, the Head of the state emphasized that the city would embody the “green city” concept. The goals include ensuring clean air and water, utilizing alternative energy sources, and creating abundant green spaces. The “Green Belt of Tashkent” project begins here, featuring a Central Park spanning 420 hectares, where 200,000 trees will be planted.
Work is already underway, with a 50-hectare nursery established to cultivate seedlings for the green spaces. The President visited the site, inspecting the young trees and receiving updates on the landscape design, irrigation, and maintenance systems for future green spaces.
So far, 27,000 ornamental tree seedlings have been grown in the nursery for further replanting. In addition, a greenhouse, boiler house, planting material storage, and irrigation systems have already been built.
In the new city, temporary administrative buildings are being constructed to facilitate the operations of various ministries and agencies. The President toured these facilities and assessed their conditions.
Four buildings and auxiliary facilities have been constructed from lightweight structures using only domestically produced building materials. The offices are designed in an ʼopen spaceʼ format and can accommodate up to 250 employees each.
These arrangements will contribute to the gradual organization of the work of ministries and departments in New Tashkent, contributing to reduced congestion in Tashkent.
