Plans in the Field of Sports Unveiled

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was briefed on plans to develop sports education and hold international competitions.
Uzbekistan's efforts in developing its sports infrastructure to international standards have been recognized, leading FIFA to choose the country to host this year's Futsal World Cup. The tournament, scheduled from September 14 to October 6, will be held across Tashkent, Andijan, and Bukhara. Twenty-four of the world's top teams will compete. The arrival of distinguished guests from the participating countries and more than 30 thousand fans is expected.
The officials in charge shared details about the ongoing preparations and outlined sports and cultural events plans. To uphold the championship's high standards, it was decided to create an organizing committee chaired by the Prime Minister.
As widely known, the Olympic Village is being built in Yashnabad district of Tashkent. This venue is slated to host the Summer Asian Youth Games next year.
To maximize the future use of the Olympic Campus, it is planned to locate the State Sports Academy of Uzbekistan on its premises. The Academy will also house the Scientific Research Institute of Physical Education and Sport and an Institute for Advanced Training of Specialists. Within the academy’s structure, a Scientific and Practical Center for Sports Medicine, an Information and Library Center, and a Center for the Study of the History of Uzbekistan and Foreign Languages will open.
From the 2025/2026 academic year, the academy will introduce three bachelor's degree and six master's degree programs into its curriculum. Academy graduates will receive a coaching certificate for 6 years. Graduates of Olympic and Paralympic colleges will be accepted immediately into the second year.
The officials in charge were instructed to organize department activities and educational programs based on advanced foreign experience and to attract highly qualified specialists.
Another development in sports education will be the establishment of Kurash mastery schools.
Kurash is our centuries-old tradition and national sport. In the world, 30 million people practice this sport, in Uzbekistan – 30 thousand people professionally and the number of amateurs surpasses these figures.
In this regard, a school of kurash mastery is planned to open in every regional center. The school will enroll 140 students through a competitive selection among children in grades 5-11.
The presentation also included a report detailing the progress of preparations for the Paris Olympics.
Uzbekistan teams are actively preparing for this prestigious competition, undergoing targeted training sessions abroad. A notable achievement is our athletes qualifying for the Olympics for the first time in football, diving, archery, and women's freestyle wrestling. The goal is to get even more qualifications and perform well at the Olympic Games.
